The only thing that's different between high profile or celebrity divorces is that you have to do all you can to keep your client and the details out of the media.
You want to have enough of a profile to be able to do all the work you can, but at the same time you want to have your own space. But there are a lot of actors who achieve it, a lot of movie stars even, people like Emily Watson and Cate Blanchett. They seem to be able to carry on with their lives and still produce wonderful, high-profile work.
I have always believed that the more educated the clients are, the easier they are to work with. Clients with a knowledge of decorating, and an ability to articulate what they want from the finished project, make the designer's job easier.
Seeing that 'Project Runway' sign at the end of the runway just made me, like, realize, like, 'Wow, I'm on this show. I'm living every designer's dream right now.'
A lot of women I worked with didn't respect their clients. I had some clients who didn't respect me, but still you somehow made it work.
I've got a lot of examples about moments where I thought something would work on film and it didn't work, but I never came to that decision with the film half shot, where I was stuck on a runaway train and couldn't jump off. On those occasions where I have admitted defeat, that this is not going to work, I haven't embarked on that project and made that movie.
