I think a lot of people miss what I've done in the MMA world. How I was able to market and control the industry so that people wanted to watch my fights. Have you ever stopped to consider the power of words? Through mere words, wars have started and ended. Tender feelings have been hurt and soothed. Courage has been instilled and fear has been implanted. Lives have been destroyed and others changed for the better. Think back on your own life when words have hurt you deeply or have comforted and given you strength and hope to do better.
You have to be sharp, you have to be ready. You have to have guys that can push you in terms of these high-level fights or otherwise you're going to get out to these fights and your opponent has been pushed and they are ready to compete. All of my fights, especially all of my UFC fights my whole career, I've never been in there without any kind of impingement and pain wrong with my back.
It's been frustrating. Since I've broken into the top five, I've seen the politics of fighters dodging fights, cherry picking fights and this that and the other.
I can tell you, having been in court today in New York, that the requests for the video outtakes have been dropped.
I have been part of fights where we have been told, 'You will not win,' and we have won.
Guys get hurt in fights. It doesn't mean you stop a fight every time somebody gets hurt.
I have always done my own stunts, and I have been in hundreds of fights in films, but I have never been in a fist fight outside the movies.
I've been in many street fights. I fought street fights for my friends to protect them.
I can't hurt any more than I've been hurt, I can't cry any more than I've cried. I've been to the highest of highs and lowest of lows, so one day I'm going to find my middle ground and be happy.
Everybody gets hurt. Sometimes a big hurt, sometimes a little hurt. But the person who's suffered a lot isn't especially strong. And the person who's been hurt a little isn't especially weak. What's important is being able to get over it.
