A Quote by Dean Karnazes

I've raced on all seven continents at least twice. I've probably run thousands of races. But the single race that I'm most proud is a 10K. Yes, a 10K. I ran it with my daughter on her 10th birthday.
I run in practically every single road race in my country, 5k, 10k just to promote the sport.
Every single one of us possesses the strength to attempt something he isn't sure he can accomplish. It can be running a mile, or a 10K race, or 100 miles. It can be changing a career, losing 5 pounds, or telling someone you love her (or him).
A picture is worth 10K words - but only those to describe the picture. Hardly any sets of 10K words can be adequately described with pictures.
I ran 10k once. I've got a medal.
It's funny, I can talk to Dad about races we ran, or I can remember some races he's raced when I was there working on the car. I'm sure other athletes are the same, where they can remember what pitches they threw or what plays they ran.
I used to run to school, 10k every day. And this at altitude, perfect preparation, really.
Not only is [a half marathon] a good test for the marathon, it is also good for those who feel they were just getting going in a 10K and are physically and mentally primed to go further. A half marathon is a good test of your endurance, without the physical punishment of going the full 26.2 miles. More so even than the 10K, it will teach you about patience, pacing, and how to negotiate a wider range of physical and emotional cycles.
Running is great, but it kills me - Im 38 and my body has been through a lot of painful challenges. I do a 10k run and I can feel it the next couple of days.
Trust me, my runners aren't going to run one event while looking past it to the second event. When they get on the line for the 10K, that's a do-or-die situation for them.
If you decide on a goal - for example, 'I'm going to write a novel' or 'I'm going to run a 10K' - your subconscious will formulate the likelihood of that happening based on past experiences.
I'm constantly walking on eggshells because I'm wearing a $10k outfit.
The marathon's about being in contention over the last 10K. That's when it's about what you have in your core. You have run all the strength, all the superficial fitness out of yourself, and it really comes down to what's left inside you. To be able to draw deep and pull something out of yourself is one of the most tremendous things about the marathon.
I'm not a natural runner. I'm friends with Ellie Goulding, and she'll be like, 'I've just done a 10K run' and I'm like: 'Why would you do that? How do you just do that?' But I will do that. I will do it.
I've accomplished a lot of things - Pro Bowls, 10K-plus yards, the accolades are there.
I think in 2012, I ran 28 races in June, so I probably ran 12 or 13 in a row, at least.
Horseshoes are lucky. Horses have four bits of lucky nailed to their feet. They should be the luckiest animals in the world. They should rule the country. They should win all their horse races, at least. 'In the fifth race today, every single horse was first equal...one horse threw a shoe came in third...the duck was ninth...and five ran.'
