It's like never hearing a Joy Division album or something. I'm finally watching Twin Peaks, and I'm so into it.
In a sense, 'Twin Peaks' never really went away. They've got a 'Twin Peaks' convention up in Washington every year, and I'm pretty much recognized on a fairly regular basis from 'Twin Peaks,' so I feel like it never really got too far away.
As good as 'Twin Peaks' was, and I mean, it's a superb work that's way ahead of its time, and we've never caught up, and we never will... I mean, we will never catch up to 'Twin Peaks.'
We didn't have MTV, and I was desperate for something. You know, you're young, you want something off the beaten path. And Twin Peaks was like, surrealism on network TV.
Apparently, when Twin Peaks was on the air in Spain, something like 50 percent of televisions were tuned to it.
I don't know if we would have stuff like 'Deadwood' and 'Boardwalk Empire' if 'Twin Peaks' had never happened.
The first thing I think I ever played in public, aside from singing in church, would have been - and this is a true story - when I was about nine or 10 years old, I was obsessed with Twin Peaks. I played the theme from Twin Peaks on a little tiny Casio keyboard. People politely applauded. I just fell in love with that song and thought it was very heartbreaking.
I started listening to the Cure around the time I discovered Joy Division and, like Joy Division, they have shaped my taste in all sorts of dark and dreary ways.
In a Town like Twin Peaks noone is innocent
For many years, I didn't feel I'd find anything that I'd like as much as 'Twin Peaks.'
I've always said that 'Twin Peaks,' to me, was like a novel we filmed every page of.
I read one too many books about Joy Division by people who weren't there, and they always seem to dwell on the dark, the intense, the miserable image of Joy Division.
Man, 'Twin Peaks' ruined me for television. I mean, how can you top a show like that.
I can't say I've watched 'Twin Peaks.' I feel like I wouldn't be comfortable doing so until after I'm done with 'Riverdale.'
Never underestimate the joy people derive from hearing something they already know.
Most people have just heard Joy Division on record. And Joy Division on record was completely different than it was live.
'Twin Peaks' is like a movie; 'China Beach' is like a movie. These are two of the most cinematic shows on television, and they belong together.
