That's what my life has been all about: Every time I get dropped, I come back and win.
I've been in a Reds' uniform, in Cincinnati, owning a house here, part of the community. I cross paths with tons of people. Every time it's about 'let's win, let's keep going, let's win a championship here.' And the support has been tremendous. And I want to be a part of the team that gives that back to the community.
I've been dropped. You get up, and you win the fight.
What we've been trying to do is difficult. You know it's difficult to win one, to win two. Madness to win three. But to try and come back to win it again should be impossible really.
The time has come to get clear about who you are and what you choose. There must come moments in every person's life when a decision is necessary. A big decision. A major choice. Such a time is now. What you get to choose today is who you are and who you choose to be, and what you wish to experience in your life. Remember, not to decide is to decide.
Things are so busy and so quick, and there’s so much going on, you have to realise the time when you have to take a step back, take a breath and really think back to where you come from. I’m from a very, very rural place. There’s really nobody out there, just roads and farms. I had a long transition to get to where I am now. I moved away when I was young, when I was about 19. I’d literally come from an area with dirt roads and stuff like that, right to the centre of a city of about five million people. It’s been great. I’m based in New York and every day it's amazing.
My only plan every day is to get up and go to work, work hard and come back home. And whatever else needs to happen in my life will come in its own time.
I've been able to win a Grammy and then to come back and get the key to the city of Watts.
Life is busy. There are daily concerns and obligations that have to be met, and to take time to think about how precious and special a human life is that you only get one, and that every wasted minute is lost. You can't get it back.
I've been trying to make my bed every day. Every time I wake up, I try and - someone told me there's been books about it, about how important it is to start the day with a win.
That's what makes a fighter. I got dropped and I got back up, and I found a way to get the win.
To go into Key Area every day, sold out, it was hard to come in there and get a win against us. That's when we used to make people understand, you can't come in and get a win against us. We were probably one of the hardest arenas to win in. Our fans were crazy. They would camp out.
The thing about tennis life is that it's the same thing every day. You train. You come back to the hotel. You get treatment. You eat. You sleep. You get up.
Every time I get a bit worried about having made some second rate choices in life I go back and read about the Suffragettes or William Wilberforce, people who were "wrong" in their own time and think, ah well.

Please God, I'll never be in a war zone, but everything I sort of know about people who come back is that it's a hard transition to make. I mean, even if you've not been in a war, even if you've just been in the Forces, you come back and probably have more fights in civilian life.
Media does not get everything they want all the time. The Democrats certainly don't. They don't win every election, and they don't win every battle.
