A Quote by Ridley Scott

I'm fundamentally a positive person. Otherwise, I wouldn't be doing some of the insane movies that I do. — © Ridley Scott
I'm fundamentally a positive person. Otherwise, I wouldn't be doing some of the insane movies that I do.
Once you have identified with some form of negativity, you do not want to let it go, and on a deeply unconscious level, you do not want positive change. It would threaten your identity as a depressed, angry or hard-done by person. You will then ignore, deny or sabotage the positive in your life. This is a common phenomenon. It is also insane.
You can't stop insane people from doing insane things with insane laws. That's insane!
Being sociopath is not what most people would consider to be winning. Most of us have some kind of positive goal in mind when we think of winning. A sociopath thinks in terms of successfully manipulating someone into doing something that he or she would not have done otherwise. That can be a small thing or a tremendous thing, but the point for the sociopath is to win, to make sure that this person does what they're trying to coerce him or her into doing. It can be as disgusting and as simple as making a child cry. Or it can be as complex as making your wife feel bad about herself.
I like to think of myself as a positive person. Otherwise I wouldn't have had a child.
Actually, I went from doing a lot of movies early on in my career, then to doing TV, and I don't know whether we'll get back to some movies or not.
As a species we're fundamentally insane.
Long ago they lowered insane persons into snake pits; they thought that an experience that might drive a sane person out of his wits might send an insane person back to sanity.
The main thing that I learned in doing 'Moonlight' is that we get to shine light on a way of living, or a person, or whatever it may be that otherwise wouldn't have light or that otherwise wouldn't have any exposure, so people have no idea.
I see the tool set being the same and maybe doing virtual movies and that's fine for some stories but not for others. And maybe make all CG movies but they are already doing it.
I don't know what the hell I'm doing; I like what I've been doing. I believe in what I've done in the past; I hope my kid enjoys the movies I've made and enjoys some of the movies in the future.
Tons of people want to see movies about women but they don't want to make them. I don't know why. I think that's insane because look at some of these big movies like Maleficent, they're huge. It's ridiculous. So, it is really hard but I'm determined to do something about that.
I am a positive person. I am not cynical. If you are born in this world, no matter who you are, negative things will happen. If you aren't positive as a person, you'll be very unhappy. It's extremely important to be positive, to laugh, to be happy, to accept life as it comes.
For me, the goal of a reading is fundamentally to help the person get closure or insight, and so sharing negative information without any positive silver lining or any potential resolution is pointless.
A sane person to an insane society must appear insane.
I believe that doing movies like this is positive because they can inspire and be entertaining.
You see movie stars advertising all sorts of things today for whatever reason. And it may be that it affords them the luxury to do smaller movies or to go and do a play. Because, otherwise, you have to keep doing movies where you get paid millions and millions of dollars to maintain a certain lifestyle.
