A Quote by Sonya Deville

With any minority group, it takes a strong presence in the public eye to make a change because everything nowadays is social media. — © Sonya Deville
With any minority group, it takes a strong presence in the public eye to make a change because everything nowadays is social media.
I feel like if you know any women who's an essayist or a writer or a public speaker or just a public person, and they have any presence at all in any kind of social media, or any place where men can voice at them, you have to be pretty amazed at the level of special provocation and sort of violent speech and misogyny that comes at them. Any woman that's really in the public sphere has experienced this. It's kind of shocking how universal it is.
A large social-media presence is important because it's one of the last ways to conduct cost-effective marketing. Everything else involves buying eyeballs and ears. Social media enables a small business to earn eyeballs and ears.
Everything is social media nowadays, everything is sports and entertainment.
Social media has allowed people to ramp up their personal attacks on people in the public eye - because there is a sense they can do it anonymously.
Before I went on 'Gogglebox,' I could never have imagined how hard it is for women in the public eye. I thought celebrities lived in a different world, I took everything the tabloids printed as gospel, and I barely even used social media.
We have our own internal version of Klout. We do rate people in this way - their effectiveness on social media. Tying social into a performance measurement works. The productivity of a sales who has an effective social media presence is 3x an employee who is not active on the web.
The political system is broke. It doesn't matter who the leader is if you are frozen in time and your hands are tied. Social media is so strong that minority groups get a huge say.
I've always been a strong presence on social media. That's how I've connected with my fans, and in doing that, I'm allowing them to win.
It is true that social media, nowadays, is important, but I don't understand everyone needing to know everything about an artist or an actor because it loses the intrigue and mystery. And then, when you're watching them as a character, you can't watching them as a character. You can only watch them as the public figure that they have presented themselves to be. I hate when people say, "Well, that's what you signed up for. That's how it is." No its not. That's not what you signed up for.
My social media world is detached from my friendship world. I'll have friends in real life that I don't follow on social media, because I don't really look at social media as the way of connecting to friends. For me, social media is like a business tool.
Because of social media, it's bridged the gap between the advertisers and fashion and allowed people to find their group. It really widens what people are viewing and allows brands to see what the public wants to see.
The problem most people make with their media presence is they're trying to craft a media presence as opposed to just consistently publishing who they are.
Any Organized social group is always a stratified social body. There has not been and does not exist any permanent social group which is "flat" and in which all members are equal.
As far as my absence from the public eye is concerned, that's because I'm publicity shy - something which is not considered good nowadays.
I think my role is as a writer, especially, and then also as a speaker, an organizer, and an entre- preneur of social change. My role isn't to make choices for people-each individual or group needs to do that on their own. But as a writer and a speaker, you can describe possibilities that perhaps haven't been visible before, and aren't in other public dialogues or in the rest of the media. So I suppose I think of myself mainly as an organizer and as someone who describes possibilities.
Formerly, a public man needed a private secretary for a barrier between himself and the public. Nowadays he has a press secretary, to keep him properly in the public eye.
